Description

Mexican Allspice is warm and sweetly pungent with floral undertones. Many food historians believe that it was the British in the early 1600?s who gave this berry the name Allspice because of the dried seed?s aroma which smells like a combination of spices; most notably cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg. To grind all spice a simple spice dedicated coffee grinder will do the trick! Just make sure the grinder you decide to use is dedicated to spices only.

I sell it whole because it loses it’s flavor VERY quickly. It is best to grind as you need it. However I do offer it ground in small jars during the Holiday season!

Funny story: I was having dinner at my friends house when she said her boyfriend had asked her to pick up some all spice. I was like just swing by the shop and grab some. Well she gets all quiet and I’m like what’s up? And she’s like well he said your all spice is wrong because it’s just one spice (because I sell it whole). He is looking for the mixture called all spice. Well I just laughed so hard. I said look up all spice and she did. Then she starts laughing too. I say throw it in the grinder and tell him you found it! And that’s exactly what she did. It is a common misconception that all spice is “all the spices” but its really just a dried berry from a deciduous tree native to Jamaica! But it smells like all the spices…hence the name!
